The future can mean a lot of things to a lot of people.
To me, it means FALL! With its’ beautiful color-changing leaves, crisp, cool air (well, eventually here in NC), Pumpkin Spice Lattés (or even better, Apple Crisp Oatmilk Beverages!) at Starbucks, and best of all… sweaters and sweatshirts!
It also means I can do my morning workouts OUTSIDE. I can go for a walk without melting into a little puddle on the ground. It all started this morning. Sunshine… without blazing hot temperatures! In North Carolina! …In August!
Someone pinch me.
No, really, someone pinch me, because I’ve also recently come to the realization that I have to start college planning for my children. More specifically, my son. What does this mean? No really, what does this mean? I’ve never done this before!
I mean, I HAVE done this before… I have a vague understanding because I went to college, but it was a LONG time ago, and quite honestly, I went to the admissions office and signed things when my Dad told me I needed to. I also don’t even much remember the whole admissions process. It kind of just… well, happened.
In the words of a wise droid… WE’RE DOOMED! (I am being a bit overdramatic here, but this is how I’m feeling at the moment.) Plus, that droid was never as smart as Artoo was anyway.
So, now I ask you, how is it possible that I have two, yes, TWO teenage children who are intelligent, kind, and, for the most part, well-functioning human beings?
Yep, I am just THAT lucky. Go ahead, you can be jealous. It’s cool. (It wouldn’t last…she said in a harsh whisper.)
So, I’m strappin’ in. This ride could get a little rocky, but it’s gonna be fun! Because, after all… the future… our future… it’s coming for us, and it’s NOW!
