It’s Monday. Election Eve. One. More. Day.
We’re down to hours now. In the words on Jean Valjean… one day more… to FREEDOM! FROM POLITICAL ADS!
FREEDOM!
That’s not what Valjean meant when he sang that in the musical but I’m sure he probably meant it in his heart. I voted on October 17, which was the first day early voting started. I have been both caught up in the drama, and now I am attempting to isolate myself from it.
(Yes, I know that it’s actually more like TWO days more, but I am claiming it!)
I NEED the finish line! AMERICA needs the finish line. This all needs to be over so we can move on with our collective lives without the anxiety that this election has brought.
By this time on Wednesday, we will know who our next president will be. I sincerely hope there’s no extra drama, whichever way it goes. We will go on living our lives just like we are today, but without the massive amounts of political ads and signs everywhere we look!
The yard sign and little flag hanging in front of our house will come down. Our Llama Welcome flag will return.
No more ads…
In one more day, I can go back to watching YouTube! Hulu! All of those other streaming services that we don’t have premium access to… with the security of knowing there will be no more ads pointing fingers, blaming each other and worst of all, negative campaigning!
The politicians will stop killing the trees and sending massive amounts of postcards and mailers, for example both tiny and ridiculously oversized, in the mail.
How could I almost forget!? In one more day… the BEST thing that will happen! No more stupid TEXT MESSAGES! “I’m begging…” “We NEED to confirm who you’re voting for!” “7x/8x/10x donation match!” “Your $3/$5/$7/$25 donation will guarantee a victory in PA /NC /AZ /ND /Pick a State, any state!” and my personal favorite, “ANYNAMEHERE is DEVASTATED! /SHOCKED! /HORRIFIED! /TERRIFIED!” All of those and so many more “creative” ideas. (As I was getting ready to post… this gem came in “700%-MATCH READY: anynamehere just changed everything… you must see this.”)
Don’t even get me started on the phone calls! OH! And emails! There were so many emails that I made Rules to dump them immediately into the Trash mailbox. Plus, the non-stop phone ringing, no matter HOW many numbers I block! (Can I get an AMEN?! Here’s the link for the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY… not that it works for this.)
SO. TOTALLY. OVER IT.
Finally, life will go on. And I am HERE for it!
Let’s get this election OVER! And God Bless America!
